Hieronim Neumann – Poland, 2005 / 11’45

The film is inspired by the invention of an English photographer and inventor, who designed the zoopraxiscope in 1879. It is considered a prototype of the cinematograph because it enabled the animation of photographs and the recording of the consecutive stages of a movement.

Hieronim Neumann (1948).
Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, he is a pedagogue, author of animation made in different techniques. At the beginning of his career, he was under the strong influence of Z. Rybczyński with whom he collaborated. He works on his own projects, as well as commissioned animation for classical music masterpieces.
