Winter Sleep

The weather forecast predicts heavy snow, which tells us it’s high time to settle down for winter sleep. But with all this talk of snow the bears imagine what it would be like to see the fluffy stuff that looks like a meringue cake and anyway there are lots of other goodies that look like snow. They decide to stay awake to see it.

Katerina Karhankova
A director, screenwriter, animator, illustrator and visual artist. Her short films The New Species (2013) and The Fruits of Clouds (2017) were selected by the Annecy IFF for competition and have won a number of awards. The film The Fruits of Clouds was also nominated for the European Animation Awards 2018, BAFTA 2018 and was awarded by European Children’s Film Association as the best animated film for children on Berlinale 2019. Katerina is one of the directors of the animated TV series Hungry Bear Tales.

Alexandra Majova
An illustrator, visual artist, animator and director, she studied animation at FAMU. In the course of her studies, she spent time at the animation department of the Estonian Academy of Arts in Tallinn. She directed the short animated student films, Allergy (2008), Swimming Pool (2010) and Mythopolis (2013), among others, which have won a number of significant awards both national and international. She currently illustrates children’s books, works on the children’s TV series Hungry Bear Tales, and on her new short animated film Washing Machine.
