Martina Karpova was born in 1972 in Minsk, Belarus. From 1992 to 1997, she studied at the Belarusian Academy of Fine Arts, specialising in the direction of animated films. She was Artistic Director for the Belarusfilm Cinematographic Studio from 198 to 1999, and from 1999 to 2000 she was the Director of an entertainment programme on FIT TV. From 2000 to 2001 she was an animator in Poland, The Czech Republic and Russia. She wrote and directed over 40 commercials and numerous short films for TV and video musicals between 2001 and 2011. She has been teaching animation at the Humanities University of Vilnius, Lithuania since 2011. She was Director, Screenwriter and Artistic Director at the ‘Big AnimationStudio Pilot in Moscow from 2005 to 2013 and Director and Screenwriter at Soyuzmultfilm Animation Studio from 2014 to 2019.
