Steven Subotnick is an experimental animation filmmaker. He makes his films using a variety of images – from cartoons to pure textural abstraction – and carefully structured sound design. He has received important grants and scholarships, such as the Guggenheim Fellowship, the LEF Fellowship, and the AFI Fellowship. His films have been screened at festivals, galleries, museums and curated exhibitions. Steven teaches animation at the Rhode Island School of Design.
