    With the sea and the urban Algarve as a background, we follow a complete cycle of the life of a special shellfish called “percebes”, goose barnacle. From their formation, to the dish, in this journey, we cross different contexts that allow us to better understand this region and those who live there.

    Alexandra Ramires

    In 2010 she completes the Painting degree in Fine Arts in Lisbon. In 2009 she starts to work on animation in the production company Sardinha em Lata. In 2013 she moves to Porto to work in the studios of Bando à Parte. She co-founded BAP Cooperative. Drop by Drop (2017) is her first film, co-directed with Laura Gonçalves. ELO (2020) is her debut as a solo director. Percebes (2024), co-directed with Laura Gonçalves, wins the Cristal Award at Annecy.

    Laura Gonçalves

    In 2009 she finishes her course at Fine Arts in Lisbon. After working in several animation films as inbetweener and art finalist, she applies to the Animation MA at Arts University Bournemouth where she directs her first animation short Three Weeks in December. In 2013 she moves to Porto, where she works in BAP (that she cofounded) for several Bando à Parte productions. In 2016 she co-directs with Alexandra Ramires the animation short Drop by Drop. In 2022 she made her film The Garbage Man. In 2024 she made Percebes.
