Le nozze di pollicino
Italia, 2018 / 6’6
Direction, Screenplay, Animation, Editing: Beatrice Pucci Music: Demetrio Castellucci Production, Distribution: Beatrice Pucci
Six puppets suddenly appear from the dark, dancing, and a mysterious letter invites them to Pollicino’s wedding. Extravagant dances, fairy headdresses and a hungry wolf will make their journey complicated. Le nozze di Pollicino is a rewriting for images and sounds from the fairy tale Crystal Rooster from Marche. The animation is part of the project FLIP (Fronte Liberazione Immaginario Popolare – Popular Imaginary Liberation Front), for a mapping of the fairy tales of the Italian oral tradition. The lightness with which Beatrice Pucci describes her film explains her ability to interpret a delicate fairy tale with elaborate stop motion animation. Fairy tales still live on!
