La traversée

Florence Miailhe
France | 2021 | 84’

A small village sacked in the night, a family forced to flee. The two eldest children, Kyona and Adriel, are separated from their parents and face the road to exile alone. They then begin a heroic journey that marks for them the transition from childhood to adolescence, in search of hospitality and tranquility, in the hope of finding a refuge and their family. Crossing a continent divided by wars and persecution of migrants, the two brave brothers survive incredible challenges, before reaching a new world, finally free.

Florence Miailhe

Since that time he has created a very personal style for his animated films: using tempera, pastels or sand, he creates the scenes directly under the camera, with a covering process. He received the César award for best short film for Au premier dimanche d’août (2002), a special mention in Cannes for Conte de Quartier (2006) and in 2015 the Cristal d’honneur award at the Annecy Animation Film Festival for the overall body of his work. He also worked as a teacher in various animation schools. In 2010 La traversée won the award for best screenplay at the Angers Premiers Plans Festival.
