    Inspired by the Finnish word of the same name, Kaukokaipuu explores the nostalgia for what has never been experienced: the longing for a missed future that continues to influence the present. Through a journey through emotional memory, the film traverses a suspended space where absence, dream, and possibility intertwine. Here, lost connections and fragments of the self continue to exist and transform, preserving the invisible traces of what still lives within us.

    Valentina Lo Duca

    Valentina Lo Duca is a visual artist and animator based in Palermo. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and subsequently earned a Master’s degree in Animation. Her craft combines illustration and animation, with a particular focus on watercolor and ink on paper techniques. She has created numerous animated works, including music videos and animated sets for theater productions. Her research explores the relationship between image, silence, and music, aiming to create intimate and immersive experiences.
