Cyprus 2014 / 5’20”

A celluloid is projected onto a cinema screen; it is then digitized, re-projected and then re-manipulated. The film plays with the application of digital and analog amalgamation, the fragility of image and sound within the digital era and the nostalgic atmosphere of a dying format. What distinguishes the material from the sculpture, the canvas from the painting, the sound from the symphony?

Maria Spivak

Maria has been creating images and sounds in Cyprus since she completed her architecture and media studies in 2011. Her primary wok revolves around directing video works and sculpting sound.
