The painter Kuwagata Keisai lived over 200 years ago. One day he was sketching a carp when suddenly he fell asleep and, in his dream, changed into a carp. The carp was enjoying his swim, but when a fisherman caught him things suddenly took a turn for the worse…

Koji Yamamura
He was born in 1964. The nomination for an Oscar, Mt. Head was a turning point, which placed him amongst the world’s top animation filmmakers with Franz Kafka’s “A Country Doctor” (2007) and Muybridge’s Strings (2011). His films have been awarded more than 90 prizes, including the Grand Prizes of Annecy, Zagreb, Ottawa and Hiroshima. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and a professor of Tokyo University of the Arts.
