The planet is starving, but a corporation called The Mill has the solution: miracle bread. Except it turns people who eat it into fresh loaves of walking bread. A devoted sister tries to save her little bread-brother, who’s being pursued by a hungry mob through twisted streets. Hunger reigns, reason crumbles. In a world that wants to eat you alive, can love defy appetite?

    Alex Boya

Born in Bulgaria, he is a Montreal animator and filmmaker, known for his surreal and hand-drawn narrative. His film Turbine (2018) consolidated his Kafka-like vision. With Bread Will Walk, Boya keeps on examining the dystopian nonsense by creating worlds where grotesque and poetic intertwine and questioning the borders between human, object and the logic that binds them. Bread Will Walk was premiered at Quinzaine des Cinéastes in Cannes in 2025.
