    Sculpted on the beat verses of Allen Ginsberg and his poem of the same name, A Supermarket in California paints the most surreal contours of an America seen, dreamed of, filtered through the eyes of a poet who meets Walt Whitman in a supermarket and cries for a world that maybe doesn’t exist.

    Anastasiya Verykina

    Anastasiya Verykina, born in 1995 in Tula, Russia, graduated from VGIK Moscow University in animated directing, followed V.A. Olshvang’s workshop in the context of which she also created A Supermarket in California, and she worked in “Pchela” and “SMF Animation” studios. After One Day (2019) and Blind (2021), A Supermarket in California is her graduation short. She finds in Allen Ginsberg, and his opus of texts, prose and poems, a great source of inspiration.
