 Biography _ Stefano Sasso

Stefano Sasso was born in Fasano (BR) in 1979. Musician and sound designer, he is the author of original sound adding for short films, installations, performances, contemporary theatre. Some of the works to which he has added sound have been commissioned by international productions (Biennale di Venezia, Arte France, Sacrebleu Production, Les Films du Cigne, LAVA Film, Cineteca di Milano, Immagine ritrovata - Cineteca di Bologna, Festival Sant'Arcangelo dei Teatri, Studio Miroslav Pilon, Ubik Prod.)


The works he has added sound to have been presented, shown and projected in 123 nations, receiving over 70 awards of national and international relevance. He was the author of the Venice International Film Festival theme tune until 2016.

He has worked together with many artists including the film directors Simone Massi, Henning Brokhaus and Michal Kosakowski, the musician Paolo Marzocchi, the video artists Carloni- Franceschetti, the animation illustrators Mara Cerri, Magda Guidi e Julia Gromskaya, the collective of Musicians for Human Rights, the theatre companies Rebis and Sineglossa.

He is the author of the short film soundtrack Dell’ammazzare il maiale (About killing the pig) which has already won the David di Donatello prize in the section “Short Films” and was in the selection of the top 20 short animated films for the competition for the Oscar Academy Award 2012, Los Angeles. He is currently a professor of Sound Design and Acoustics elements, Sound Design and Sound Design II at the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Macerata.
